Signs include poor thrive and appetite leading to poor body condition. This can occur even where there is highquality feed being fed to the livestock involved. Other symptoms include, lethargy and poor wool quality or coat. There maybe tear staining of the cheeks. Research has shown that cobalt-deficient sheep can fail to respond to vaccinations, are more susceptible to clostridial diseases (for example pulpy kidney) and pasteurellosis (pneumonia).
