Updates to The British Horseracing Authority Regulations

09 Sep 22

Following updates to The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) Prohibited List Code, we have been working closely with The British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) to seek further clarification on the impact of these updates which came into force with immediate effect.

The team at BETA has been in correspondence with the BHA’s Head of Equine Welfare and Anti Doping and the industry wide advice is to withdraw feed or supplements containing Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) 24 clear hours prior to racing.

The BHA has made these updates as a result of a change in the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (FHA) international residue limits to include MSM. As a signatory to the IFHA, the BHA were mandated to bring these residues into immediate effect.

NOTE: All feed or supplements containing Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) should be withdrawn 24 clear hours prior to racing
